I learned a lot with my first electronics design called STB board [www.reprap.org] .
My graphic LCD code for a 128x64 dots display is part of the official Marlin firmware since a few weeks. (:D
Based on what i learned i decided to built a second generation of this electronics which includes most features the users asked for.
The result is the RepRap easy electronics
The electronics features
Operates from a single 12..24V DC supply
On board protection fuses for Hotends and Heatbed
5 (replaceable) stepper controllers supporting 1/1 step .. 1/16 step
Automatically controlled stepper driver cooling-fan output
Dual extruder
Heated printbed
Hotend fan control
USB interface
Stand alone printing from micro-SD card
128x64 dots graphic LCD display
User menu navigation with click wheel
