Hi everyone,

We're a group of mechanical engineering students from the University of Waterloo who designed and built an awesome desktop CNC machines called the Sienci Mill One! Our goal was to create something that was affordable (starting at $399US) and easy to use (easy to assemble, free and browser based software) so that CNC milling could be easier to access for more people!

We've built and sold a bunch of machines, but we're using Kickstarter to help us take our design to the mass manufacturing stage.

After our campaign, our plans will be open source! You can build your own or modify our existing design.

Here's some more information about our project:

Price: Starts at $399USD kit without spindle, $515USD with a 1-1/4 HP router or equivalent.
Tooling: Designed to work with compact routers and dremels
Working area: 250mm x 200mm x 100mm
Firmware: GRBL (open source!)
Software: Works with almost all Gcode. We suggest Kiri:Moto (https://grid.space/kiri/?sm%3AC) or Makercam (http://www.makercam.com)
