I'm excited to announce Pololu's new stepper motor driver carrier for the AMIS-30543. Compared to the A4988/DRV88xx boards, the AMIS-30543 can deliver more current (1.8 A per coil continuously without a heat sink or forced air flow) and features SPI-controllable current limiting! Other options can be changed via SPI too. Here is a size comparison of the A4988/DRV88xx form factor to the new AMIS-30543 carrier:
